Capital Film Festival – Agata the Writer – Q&A Screening

Capital Film Festival – Agata the Writer – Q&A Screening

Saturday October 24 | 8.30pm

Join us following the screening for a Q&A with Mia Wasikowska, writer-director Kuba Dorabialski and producer Alex White.

Agata (Mia Wasikowska), a disillusioned writer, arrives in Sarajevo from Sydney to write a novel set during the Bosnian war. As she speaks with the local community, survivors and other artists, her project begins to unravel as she is challenged on why she wants to write this piece, and who gets to tell which stories.

In the house where she’s staying, obscene art objects begin to vanish, and the line between lived experience and fiction starts to dissolve. Formally inventive and a prying inquisition into artistic motivation and integrity, Agata the Writer is a deep reflection on the responsibilities of the storyteller.
